A Family Tradition, 50+ Years Strong
In 1970, life-long resident, Darrell Cook purchased a sanitation business known as Valley Sanitation which serviced Griswold, Walnut, and Atlantic. In 1973, that operation took on a new look as Darrell graciously split the business, giving the residential customers to his brother Don, while he continued servicing his commercial customers. When Darrell decided to retire, he sold the remaining business to him, which is what we know today as Cook Sanitation. Don’s son, Donald II, joined the business in 1980 and eventually his grandson, Dalton Cook, became a partner in 2014. And the rest is history.
With over 50 years of experience, we offer a range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our customers. This includes residential and commercial trash service, roll-off dumpster rentals, and bulk item pickup. Our current service area includes Atlantic, Wiota, Marne, Lewis and the surrounding rural areas.
Community Support
As a local waste management provider, Cook Sanitation directly impacts our community by managing an essential service, which are critical components of healthy and sanitary living environment for our local residents. We understand the importance of supporting development projects. As lifelong residents, we recognize and strive to keep our town beautiful for our children and their families and for other generations to enjoy for years to come.
Cook Sanitation is a founding charter member of the Around Atlantic Preservation Circle. The group is dedicated to community stewardship, based in preserving Atlantic’s memory from 1886, and giving back to the community and place we call home.
